Brazil’s Alter do Chão filmfest is to host Iran’s ‘When Mehdi was Born’.

Brazil’s Alter do Chão film festival has been set to host Iranian documentary ‘When Mehdi was Born’.

The Iranian 72-minute documentary will go on screen at Mostra Paralela section of the Brazilian event in December 2020.

Directed by Amir-Mehdi Hakimi and Hojjat Bamorovvat, the documentary tells the story of Mehdi, who was born in a deaf family.

Facing many challenges due to the deafness of his family, he is determined to become a medical doctor. But an adventure during one of his travels changes his life thoroughly.

The Alter do Chão is a meeting place between cultures around audiovisual production and other artistic manifestations of the Brazilian Amazon and the world in the national and international cinema and audiovisual production environment, stage for musical presentations and other artistic events to foster the interactivity of everyone interested in the intelligent and responsible preservation of the environment, cultures and Amazonian societies.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the 2020 edition of the Alter do Chão film festival will be held online on the event’s website.

The 2020 edition of the Brazilian gala will be held on December 9-13.
